Visa CVV requirements and customer profiles

As a follow-up to this question (https://community.moneris.com/product-forums/f/5/t/791), I would like to know how the Visa requirement to make the CVV mandatory will be implemented with payment profiles.

Based on the documentation, a credit card can be added in the vault without providing the CVV. Will this still be possible when the Visa requirement becomes effective?

If a credit card is added to the vault without the CVV, would transactions using the profile fail after the Visa requirement becomes effective?

Thank you!

  • The CVD check is only necessary when the card is captured from the card holder....

So for example if he puts through an order and provides his card for that one order... you have to do a CVD check

Or for example if he provides his card and you store it for later use, you have to do a transaction before storing it and do a CVD check during that transaction (this transaction can be a preauth, purchase or just a card verification)

Its not compliant to store the CVD.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Just to add to that, during that transaction you do before storing the card, you would also have to pass the new COF (Credential On File) fields.

    Hello,

    Thank you for these answers.
Could you clarify one element? Do you mean that by passing the credential on file fields in the first transaction (when the customer saves the credit card onto his account), we will not be required to provide the CVV for future transactions using the saved card?

    Thank you!

yeah that's right... so for future transactions using that saved card you will have to pass the needed COF fields as well but not the CVD.
